After all I have been through, I got my Bachelor degree. It’s took me 2 years and 9 months. Yeah that was a long time, normally with extension program like i did, you could finish your bachelor degree in 2 years.  I need 9 months extra time. And that’s not a good one.

So, what take it so long? I didn’t blame my final task topic for that, Oh yes, I’m not. It’s just a lack of discipline of my self. Yeah, that’s it.  If only litle by litle, constantly, I do my homework, it’d be a different story… maybe. So, what is my final task topic anyway?. CBIR, Content-Based Image Retrieval, that’s mine.

In common Image Retrieval we use textual information for querying images from a database, but in CBIR we use visual information like colour schema, or image texture. In my case we choose human face image for our object study. Human face naturally have a unique difference each other by it’s colour or shape. Look like hard works to do right?, yeah it is… but thanks to Thomas Desealer and his friends, who created a wonder full image retrieval engine called FIRE (Flexible Image Retrieval Engine)… and the best thing… FIRE is Open Source. With FIRE we could choose techniques for extracting image features or distance measurement that suited best for our images object. And if you get trouble using FIRE you just could ask to the FIRE Google Groups, there are many of kinds person in there… just tell them what your problems.
